Abstract

Introduction: Children with developmental disorders have lower levels of health and oral hygiene when compared to normal children.The Purpose Of the Study: To find out the level of OHIS index of mentally retarded children with hearing impaired children in SLB ABC Swadaya Kendal Research Method: This study is descriptive with a cross sectional approach conducted on mentally retarded and deaf children in SLB ABC Swadaya Kendal. The population in this study were 25 deaf children and 25 mentally retarded children. Data collection techniques were observational by measuring oral hygiene status with OHI S. oral hygiene index. Results: Dental and oral health of mentally retarded children was for oral hygiene or OHI-S as much as 68% in the sufficient category, whereas in children with hearing impairment for oral hygiene or OHI-S as much as 44% in the good category. Conclusion: Based on research conducted to find out the description of the oral hygiene status of mentally retarded children and children with hearing impairment in special schools Kendal self-help. Oral hygiene level in deaf children is better than mental retardation children.
