Abstract

Introduction : Malocclusion is an occlusion that deviates from the normal state and is often found because of its high prevalence. Malocclusion if not treated can reduce the value of function and esthetics in these individuals. Child Perception Questionnaires (CPQ) is an instrument to assess the degree of quality of life related to oral health in children or adolescents with various orthodontic and orofacial dental conditions. This literature review aims to review and analyze the effect of malocclusion on the degree of quality of life related to oral health in adolescents based on the CPQ11-14 questionnaire. Method : This type of research is a literature review using the Pubmed and Science Direct databases. Obtained 14 articles in accordance with the research topic. Results : The results of a literature review search show that malocclusion is not one of the causes of a decrease in the degree of quality of life related to oral health in adolescents, there are other factors such as demographic factors such as gender and skin color or ethnicity, socioeconomic factors such as education level and income level, and clinical status factors such as severity of overjet, trauma to teeth, and untreated decayed teeth. Conclusions : Malocclusion affects the degree of quality of life in adolescents, especially in the domains of Oral Symptom, Social Well-being, and Emotional Well-being followed by co-factors that affect the assessment results such as demographic, socioeconomic, and clinical factors.
