Abstract

Diaper dermatitis was a skin inflammatory disorder that occured in an area covered by a diaper, generally occurring in infants or children because exposured to urine, feces and diaper used but was not be a deadly abnormality. A mild case, it made skin redness. While in severe cases, infections may occured in infant skin that will caused pain. Baby oil can help lifted the dirt that dried or hardened on the folds of the baby's thighs, buttocks and genitalia while coconut oil palm contained fatty acid chains that can be overcame the emergence of viruses, fungi and bacteria in addition contained of vitamin E in which worked - damaged skin cells in the diaper dermatitis. The purpose of this study was to analyzed the different of degree in dermatitis diapers were done perianal hygiene used baby oil or coconut oil. The type of research was Quasi Eksperimen pre-post test. The population in this research was 37 children taken samples 30 children with consecutive technique, the way was done by applying baby oil or coconut oil to diaper dermatitis area 2x daily for 3 days. Measuring instrument used was an observation sheet in which there was level of degree of diaper dermatitis. Data analysis used was Chi Square Test with Fisher p value 0,05 there was difference of perianal higene using baby oil with coconut oil. Based on the results of the study was expected to be an alternative treatment of nurses and parents to reduce diaper dermatitis in infants or children with baby oil or coconut oil. However, if the baby or child was unsatisfactory to baby oil, coconut oil can be the second alternative to dealing with diaper dermatitis. Keywords: Baby oil, coconut oil, diaper dermatitis.
