Abstract

Hypertension is widely known as cardiovascular disease is estimated to have caused 4.5% of the disease burden globally. Hypertension is also a silent killer where symptoms can vary in each individual and almost the same as other symptoms of the disease. Based on the tendency, hypertension becomes an issue in the elderly because it is often found and a major factor in stroke, heart problems, and coronary heart disease. Therefore there should be prevention efforts undertaken by the elderly to avoid this hypertension disease. The purpose of this study to analyze the relationship of profit perception, barriers to behavior prevention of elderly hypertension in Posyandu Nurus Syifa Rw 01 Tlogomulyo Village Semarang. The design of this research is descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. Research sample 30 elderly aged> 60 years in Posyandu Nurus Syifa Rw 01 Village Tlogomulyo Semarang. Sampling technique used is Purposive sampling. Univariate and bivariate quantitative data analysis. The result showed that there was significant correlation between perception of profit, obstacle, and prevention of elderly hypertension at posyandu nurus syifa rw 01 Tlogomulyo Semarang (p <0,05). Based on these results, it is expected that the elderly can perform preventive measures that can trigger the occurrence of hypertension both primary prevention (limiting salt consumption, calculating the consumption of fat such as offal); secondary prevention (recognizing traditional treatments such as cucumber consumption, drinking mengkudu juice can lower blood pressure and not smoking); tertiary prevention (diligent exercise such as elderly gymnastics).
