Abstract

Complications of diabetes mellitus are acute if blood glucose levels rapidly decline in a short time and below normal, the complication is called hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia causes fatality for the sufferer, in this case entering into an emergency situation when not getting proper care. The purpose of this study to determine the knowledge and attitude of patients with diabetes mellitus about prevention of hypoglycemia. The research design used descriptive research design with a sample of 64 people aged 20-50 years in Sendangmulyo urban Semarang City. The results of this study 75% of people have good knowledge and 59,4% of people have a positive attitude about prevention of hypoglycemia. Recommendation from this research so that related health worker always give health education about prevention and handling of hypoglycemia.
