Abstract

Hypertension was a condition that was often found in primary health care, it was a health issue with a high prevalence, especially in the elderly. Preventive behavior of elderly hypertension can be influenced by the support of health workers such as health counseling during elderly posyandu and health facilities available at posyandu elderly. The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlations between health personnel support with prevention behavior of elderly hypertension in Posyandu Nurus-Asyfa RW 01 Tlogomulyo urban village. The design of this research was descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. Respondents of this study was elderly with aged over 60 years who live in RW 01 Tlogomulyo Semarang as many as 30 people. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The results showed that there was a significant correlation between the support of health workers with hypertensive prevention behavior in elderly (p = 0,000). Based on these results, health officers at Posyandu are expected to increase support in health services either in the form of emotional support such as health workers coming to the elderly if not present in Posyandu, instruments such as skilled health workers when doing blood pressure checks, information such as health workers explain about hypertension, assessments such as health workers advise elderly to maintain a healthy diet and rewards such as health workers guide the elderly when Posyandu activities, there by increasing the interest of elderly in the prevention of hypertension.
