Abstract

Background: Nearmiss is an almost accidental incident or work accident that does not cause injury or equipment damage, but nearmiss has the potential to cause high-scale workplace accidents and cause equipment damage. What can be done to reduce or prevent the nearmiss event is to apply the 5S program (Clear out, Classify,Cleaning, Conformity, Custom). This study aims to see whether there are different levels of nearmiss before and after 5S implementation. Methods: quasi experimental study (quasi experiment) with the number of samples of 32 workers and data processing using wilcoxon test because the data is not normally distributed Result: Nearmiss events before application (21.9%) and after application (9.4%); there was no significant difference (p> 0.368). Conclusion: the number of nearmiss events decreases but there is no significant difference, this is due to various factors such as surveillance, level of individual awareness, and regulations that are still lacking regarding 5R and nearmiss Keywords: Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke, Nearmiss
