Abstract

The incidence of burns in children requires special attention from parents, including mothers. The role of parents in making the management of burns required an ability not only knowledge, because the capability is one important component of the predisposing factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education treatment of burns with the knowledge level of mothers at the village of TK Pertiwi Karangtowo vilage Karangtengah District of Demak regency. The design of this study was Quasi Experiment design with one-group pre-test post-test design. Respondents of this research was the mother whose son attended kindergarten Pertiwi village Karangtowo Demak.Teknik sampling used is total sampling with 45 people. Results showed that prior knowledge of health education obtained a mean value of 12.56 and thereafter increased to 17.11. The knowledge score increased by 4.55. Wilcoxon statistical test results obtained with p values of 0.000 (<0.05), so it can be concluded that there was significant influence between knowledge before and after being given health education. Based on these results the relevant agencies such as health centers should be able to carry out health education particularly on ways to handle burns properly regularly in collaboration with other health-related agencies.
