Abstract

Clinical chemistry examination especially bilirubin should use serum sample, but in certain circumstances sometimes use plasma. Examination of bilirubin often becomes a demand for additional examination, where as only samples of EDTA plasma, or plasma heparin. The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference of bilirubin examination result of total serum sample, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. The research method is experiment, the research sample is total population starting from June 13 to July 16, 2017, as many as 30 samples, taken blood and split into serum tubes, EDTA and heparin, then checked the total bilirubin levels. Data analysis using Kruskall Wallis test after previously tested normality using Shapiro Wilk, and homogeneity test using Levene Test. Results of the study of 30 samples studied, total bilirubin content using serum samples had an average of 9.531 mg / dl; EDTA plasma has an average of 8.718 mg / dl; And an average plasma heparin of 9,462 mg / dl. Based on different test using Kruskall Wallis shows that the value of significant level of Kruskall Wallis equal to 0,806> value of α = 0,05. Based on the analysis of the results of the study, it was stated that there was no significant difference in the measurement of total bilirubin levels using serum samples, EDTA plasma and plasma heparin. The results of this study indicate that total bilirubin levels can be measured using serum samples, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma Keywords: Total Bilirubin, Serum, EDTA Plasma, Heparin Plasma.
