Abstract
Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism. Purines (Adenine and Guanine) is a constituent of nucleic acids. Healthy or normal kidney will be able to remove substances that are not useful in the blood including uric acid with urine. When there is interference in the process of disposal or uric acid metabolism, can increase the levels of uric acid in the blood or commonly known as hyperuricemia (serum uric acid concentrations greater than 7.0 mg / dl). Hyperuricemia can lead to complications, the deposition of uric acid in the kidney which may lead to the formation of kidney stones from uric acid crystals, which can then inhibit the filtering function of the kidneys. Crystallization of uric acid in the joints that often occurs that causes a disease gout arthritis / gout or rheumatism. Excess uric acid levels in the body will result in the accumulation of large amounts of uric acid in the blood that will trigger the formation of crystals removed through the urine, and can be detected by microscopic examination of the urine is relatively easy and cheap. This study aims to determine the presence of uric acid crystals in the urine of patients hyperuricemia in Klinik 24 hours Clinical Pathology Laboratory with a number of 30 samples outpatient examination of uric acid in the blood and urine examination. This research is a descriptive study, the data used are primary data and secondary data presented in tabular form and is equipped with a narrative. Based on the research that has been conducted on 30 samples in 11 patients can be found in the presence of uric acid crystals in the urine. The presence of uric acid crystals in the urine which are caused by the acid state of the urine, dehydration and may also be due to eating foods containing high purine. Keywords : Uric Acid, Hyperuricemia, Uric Acid Crystals
