Abstract

Background: Patient were hospitalized in intensif care room of Kariadi Hospital Semarang 60% suffer diaper dermatitis. Diaper dermatitiswould not occur if perianal hygiene do correctly. Nurses of Kariadi Hospital more like wet wipes than cotton and water for perianal hygiene, because more effective and efficient. The purpose of the research is to know the difference of perianal hygiene with wet wipes versus cotton and water to diaper dermatitis occurance in the intensif room of Kariadi Hospital on Semarang.. Research method:The type of research is quasi eksperimental with two group post test only design. The population were the children hospitalized in PICU and HCU of Kariadi Hospital on Semarang. Size of the sample was 60 respondents collected by using purpossive sampling technique. The data was analyzed by using Mann Whitney statistic test. The research found that the perianal hygiene with wet wipes group the most is not occur diaper dermatitis 14 children (46,7%) and the least is mild diaper dermatitis 1 child (3,3%). The perianal hygiene with cotton and water group the most is not occur diaper dermatitis 12 children (38,7%) and the least is slight to mild diaper dermatitis 2 children (6,5%). The conclusion of the research is that no difference of perianal hygiene with wet wipes versus cotton and water to diaper dermatitis occurance in the intensif room of Kariadi Hospital on Semarang that indicated by p value 0,694 (α > 0,05). Suggestion : supposted nurse can do perianal hygiene with wet wipes which has been adapted to SPO and SAK to prevent diaper dermatitis occurance.
