Abstract

Introduction: The cause of MMR in Indonesia is still dominated by the three main causes of death that is bleeding, hypertension in pregnancy, and infection. Anemia in pregnancy being one causes of postpartum hemorrhage and decreased the immune system so made easy to become infected with the disease. The preventive measures that can be done by do early detection of anemia in pregnancy. This research to know characteristics and ability of early detection of anemia in pregnancy in work-area at the Public Health Center of East Semarang. Methods: a descriptive quantitative research, with cross-sectional design. This research was conducted on 5th December 2017 to 5th January 2018, research sample as many as 76 respondents. The technique of sampling with total sampling. Instrument research using questionnaires. Analysis: Data analysis using univariate analysis. Result: showed that characteristics of the respondents experienced the highest anemia occurs at >25 weeks gestation (31.5%), aged 20-35 years (48.7%), education level is senior high school (34.2%), the occupation is the house mother (36.8%), gravid status occurs on the 2nd pregnant until the 4th (35.5%). Parity status occurs mothers who have never given birth (29%). Ability of the early detection of anemia in pregnancy with enough categories (80.3%). Discussion: Ability of the early detection of anemia, can influence from the level of a person's education and experience. Ability of the early detection of anemia in pregnancy needed to prevent unwanted conditions in pregnancy.
