Abstract

Infection of Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus are the cause of iron deficiency anemia. Anemia on hookworm infection is progressive, hypochromic, micrositic, iron deficiency type of anemia. Anemia classification was determined by counting the erythrocytes number, hemoglobin level, and hematocrit values. The research goal was to know the description of erythrocyte index on hookworm patients at Puskesmas Gubug I Grobogan District. This research is a descriptive research. Samples was 31 respondents according to suspect of worm infestation and used purposive sampling non probability sampling tehnique. The research result was found eggs and larvae of hookworm on feces examination. Erythrocyte index of hookworm patients with normal MCV as muchy as 18 patients, less than normal as much as 12 patients, and more than normal as much as 1 patient. The normal MCH as much as 27 patients, less than normal, less than normal 3 patients, and more than normal as much as 1 person. The normal MCHC as much as 10 patients, and more than normal as much as 21 patients. Keywords: erythrocyte index, MCV, MCH, MCHC, hookworm
