Abstract

Hemoglobin examination is needed in hospitalized patients as it is one of the tests to determine the diagnosis and to know the treatment of therapy. The sample used for hemoglobin examination is venous blood, but there are some patient conditions that make us a difficult analyst in venous blood sampling. Capillary blood samples can not be performed because the volume of blood needed for hemoglobin examination with the Sematite Analytical tool Sysmex XN 1000 is 2 ml. One effort that we do to keep getting a sample hemoglobin examination is the arterial blood sampling. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference of blood venous and arterial hemoglobin levels by photometric method. The type of research is observational analytics. The samples used were 36 patients from the total population for 1 month (saturated sample), then the venous blood and arterial samples were checked for hemoglobin level. The results showed mean venous hemoglobin level of 12.2 g / dl, while mean arterial hemoglobin level was 12.1 g / dl. This suggests that the results of venous hemoglobin levels are higher than arterial hemoglobin levels. Indipendent sample t test shows the significance value of 0.837, with a significance level of 0.05. 0.837> 0.05 so it can be concluded that there is no difference between venous blood hemoglobin level and arterial blood hemoglobin level. Keywords: Hemoglobin Level, Venous Blood, Arterial Blood
