Abstract
Background : Low back pain is a pain syndrome in the lower back that occurs due to abnormalities of the spine, trauma, tissue changes, and gravity effects. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of work position, body mass index and work period to the incidence of low back pain in workers. Methods : This cross-sectional study involved cracker 36 industry workers in Krobokan Village, West Semarang, who were selected by purposive sampling. The data collected are work position, body mass index, years of service using questionnaire instruments, stationery, cameras, scales and microtoise. Data were analyzed by chi-square test. Results: Workers who have high-to-medium risk work positions are (86.1%), abnormal body mass index (fat and thin) (44.4%), long period of service (63.9%) and low back pain ( 61.1%). Among the variables studied, only the service period has a significant relationship with the incidence of LBP. Conclusion : LBP events are related to long service life so that it needs to be anticipated by rolling or using work tools. Keywords : Low Back Pain, Crackers Industrial Workers
