Abstract
Background : Smoking can reduce health because one cigarette contains thousands of harmful substances for health. Currently not only adults who smoke, children also start smoking.The youngest age of smokers is age 5-9 years (1,6%), age 8-9 years male smokers are 5,74% and female 0,595, 12-13 years old are 12,30% male smokers and 0,88% female smokers. The cause is lack of knowledge about the dangers of smoking so children need information about this using an interesting information media through the game. Objective : To develop game wheel of fortune about the dangers of smoking for elementary school aged 9-12 years. Method : This type of qualitative research with the P-Process theory to the stage of development and trial with research subjects are elementary school children aged 9-12 years. Result : The result of the analysis show that the children’s konwledge of dangers of smoking is still low. The material is active smokers, passive smokers, cigaratte content, smoking related diseases and non smoking areas. The developed are game rules and game components. The expert test result indicate the game are suitable as educational tools. The results of small scale trials show that childrens are happy, exited and fighting over each other to become a wheel of fortune. The result of media evaluation are known as the size of wheel of fortune is small and there are children who feel bored. Conclusion : The development of the wheel of fortune media can be used as tool to provide other information and need large scale trials with several improvements.
