Abstract

The action that can cause pain in infants is immunization through injection, because children immunization is an action that causes trauma to children, families, health workers and also the community. Dextrose is the most commonly used sweet solution, works fast, non-sedative, easily given, non-invasive and available natural resources. Dextrose has the effect of analgesia which is the release of beta endorphin which is produced by the body itself and it is similar to morphine and the occurrence of a mechanism of pre-absorption of sweetness. This study aims to evaluate giving 25% Dextrose orally to decrease the pain response of infants immunized. The author’s subjects are 4 respondents from Kedungjati Grobogan health center area who are undergoing immunization. For the data collection, the author uses interview techniques and physical examination. The method of analysis with the nursing process is to describe the condition and pain response of babies with 25% Dextrose with a measuring instrument, namely the observation sheet. After applying the 25% Dextrose solution for 3 minutes, the results of changes in the baby's pain response were obtained. The conclusion of this application is that there is a decrease in pain response by giving 25% Dextrose solution. Keywords: Pain response, dextrose 25%
