Abstract

Kata Kunci: Problem Based Learning, Open Ended, Pemecahan Masalah. ABSTRACT This research is motivated by problems that exist in schools that students have not been able to solve mathematical problem solving related to the application of SPLDV material, students have difficulty communicating the results of their thinking in the form of written communication, especially in applying the steps of solving problems and understanding problems. In addition, the activeness and motivation of student learning in the learning process is also still low. One effort to overcome these problems is to apply the Problem Based Learning model with the Open Ended approach. The purpose of this study was to determine students 'completeness of problem solving abilities, to determine the effect of students' activeness and learning motivation on problem solving, and to find out the difference between the average of the experimental class and the control class. This research is an experimental study, with a population of all eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 03 Semarang in the 2019/2020 school year. Sampling using saturated sampling techniques because the samples taken in this study were all class VIII. Data collection methods used in this study were interviews, documentation, observation, questionnaires, and evaluation tests. The hypothesis method uses completeness test, influence test, and different test. The results showed that students reached an average of 78.02 and had exceeded the KKM score determined by 73. Students who achieved mastery were 26 out of 29 students or 89.66%. In addition, the results of the influence test showed the influence of students' learning activeness and motivation on problem solving ability by 92.1%. The results of the different tests also showed that there were differences in the average ability of students' problem solving between classes using the Problem Based Learning learning model with the Open Ended approach with the class using conventional learning models. The average experimental class was 78.02 while the average control class was 70.24. So it can be concluded that learning by using the Problem Based Learning model with an Open Ended approach to the problem-solving ability of the material The twovariable Linear Equation System is effective. This model can be applied to the Material Variable Linear Equation System or other material to hone students' problem solving skills. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Open Ended, Problem Solving.
