Abstract

The Effectiveness of Discovery Learning Model with a Scientific Approaches Toward the Mathematics Learning Achievement of Students in the Eighth Grade Straight Line Equation Material. Final Project. Mathematics Education Department. University of Muhammadiyah Semarang. Advisors: I. Martyana Prihaswati, S.Si.,M.Pd., II. Eko Andy Purnomo, S.Pd.,M.Pd. Straight line equation is very important material to learn because it has many contributions in daily life. However, research in the field shows unsatisfactory results in learning straight line equation material, with an average daily test score of 68. The low motivation to learn and interpersonal intelligence of students in learning and the low mathematics learning achievement of students in learning is due to learning using expository learning models. Many students have not yet reached the minimum completeness criteria in the material of straight line equations. Applying discovery learning models with a scientific approach is one way to overcome these problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of discovery learning models with a scientific approach to mathematics learning achievement, learning motivation, and students' interpersonal intelligence. This research is an experimental study, with a population of all eight grade of Muhammadiyah 3 Semarang Junior High School in the academic year 2019/ 2020. The research samples are class VIII A, VIII C, and VIII E with the sampling technique using purposive sampling technique. The independent variables in this study are learning motivation and interpersonal intelligence, while the dependent variable is mathematics learning achievement. Data collection methods in this study were interviews, documentation, observation, questionnaires, and evaluation tests, while the analysis test was completeness test, influence test, and average difference test. The results showed that students can achieve mastery of mathematics learning achievements individually and classically. The results of the influence test show the influence of learning motivation and interpersonal intelligence on mathematics learning achievement. The average difference test results showed that there were differences in the average learning achievement of the experimental class with the control class. So it can be concluded that learning uses discovery learning models with a scientific approach is effective. Keywords: Discovery Learning, Scientific, Learning Achievement
