Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of using textless comics and make a match in teaching writing of recount text at the tenth grade of SMK N I Sayung. The method used in this study was an experimental research. The study was carried out in two classes of research, namely experimental and control class. The subject of this study was the tenth grade students, and the samples of this research were software application program as the control class and sewing program as the students of experimental class. Based on the research analysis of the data of students score in experimental and control class,it showed that the result of the students’ observation was 76.25%, the questionnaire result average percentage was 70.64%. The instrument used in this study was pretest and posttest. The technique used in collecting the data was quantitative data using t-test. The result of the study showed that the use of textless comics and make a match in teaching writing of recount text was effective. It could be seen from the result of calculation that the students’ score in experimental class was higher than the students’ score in the control class. The mean score of pretest in experimental class was 56.29. Meanwhile, the mean score of posttest in experimental class was 72.29. Furthermore, the mean score of pretest in control class was 56.56, the mean score of posttest in control class was 65.74. Furthermore, based on the statistical calculation with the significance level of 5% and 1%, it showed that t was higher than tt, that was 2.04 < 11.79 > 2.75. Therefore, it proved the alternative hypothesis (Ha), which stated that there was significant difference between the students’ score in learning recount writing by using textless comics and make a match and the students’ score in learning recount writing without using textless comics and make a match at the tenth grade students of SMK N I Sayung. The use of textless comic and make a match in learning writing recount text was effective and the students were atracted during learning process.
