Abstract

Examination of leukocytes counts in urine sediment can be done by manual microscopic and automatic methods. Both methods are used for urine sediment in all patients either outpatient or inpatient at dr. Kariadi Semarang. Differences in the results of these two methods into the background issues in research. The purpose is to compare the results of WBC counts in urine by both manual microscopic and automatic methods using flowcytometri-based Sysmex UF-1000i. This is an analytical research. Samples were randomly taken from total population of outpatient and inpatient dr. Kariadi during the month of November 2016 and performed by automatic cell counting using the Sysmex UF-1000i. Samples were not eligible were excluded so as to get the total sample of 28. The data value was analyzed by Shapiro Wilk test followed by Wilcoxon. The statistical showed the average examination results using automatic analysis was 7/LPB with a SD of 7.43 ± 9.92, while manually 8 / LPB with a SD of 5.57 ± 6.60. It suggested the manual counting leukocyte counts are higher than automatic counts. Wilcoxon test results showed a difference between the amount of urine leukocytes of both methods with p <0.001. The conclusion from this study is there a significant difference between the examination of urine leukocytes with manual microscopy methods, and automatic Sysmex UF-1000i.
