Abstract

The incidence of pregnant women with the risk of complications occurs about 10% of all pregnancies. The risks of complications in pregnancy such as Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, kidney disease, cardiovascular, preeclampsia and eclampsia. Pregnant women who experience complications of elevated blood pressure may occur at gestational age above 20 weeks. The purpose of this research was to find out the correlation between blood glucose and blood pressure of pregnant woman by using analytic description research design. This research was done on 30th January – 28th February 2017 in Puskesmas Tlogosari Kulon, Pedurungan, Semarang with total samples are 81 respondents and using by accidental sampling method. The result of Rank Spearman statistic test obtained p value 0,000. There is a relationship between blood glucose with blood pressure in pregnant women. Increased levels of estrogen and progesterone can inhibit insulin activity resulting in insulin retention resulting in elevated blood glucose levels. Increased blood glucose stimulate natrium retention in the renal tubules so that the volume of fluid in the circulation increases affecting the increase in blood pressure. Recommendation from this research that pregnant women routinely do pregnancy check and monitoring blood glucose. Keywords:, Blood glucose, blood pressure, pregnancy
