Abstract

The development of children at school age is more on the developing of the abilities in social interaction, learning about the morale and culture of the family and starting to try to take part in group. Their more specific developments also began to emerge in this stage such as the development of self-concept, skills and learning to respect the environment. The objective of this study is to know the picture of the psychosocial development status of elementary school children aged 8-11 years in Purbo Village, Bawang, Batang District. The design of this study was descriptive study. The respondents were the children aged 8-11 years as many as 54 children. The total sampling was used as the sampling technique. The result of the research showed that most of the respondents are 9 years old, which was 38.9%. The gender was mostly male (53.7%), and they were mostly in grade 3 (40.7%). The results showed that respondents had a psychosocial development status at risk of 87.0%, and status of health of 13.0%. Based on these results, mothers with children aged 8-10 years are expected to provide the appropriate parenting patterns and train the independence of children and monitor their psychosocial independence.
