Abstract

Smoking are known as behaviors that are very harmful to health. The dangers of smoking are not only for smokers but can also attack those who do not smoke in those environments. The effects of cigarette smoke can cause a variety of health problems ranging from mild to severe that can be brought to death, but this is less aware by the smokers that remain resistant to smoking. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between knowledge about smoking with patients to stop smoking in hypertensive patients at Kedungmundu Public Health Center Semarang. The design of this study is a cross sectional study. The respondents of this study were hypertension patients who had quit smoking and had medication in Kedungmundu Public Health Center as many as 122 people. The sampling technique used is consecutive sampling. The results obtained were mostly good (70.3%), smoking allowance was largely adherent (59.4%) and statistical test results had a significant relationship between knowledge with pit compliance with a p value of 000 0.000. Based on these results, hypertensive patients are expected to continue to seek information about hypertension and at the same time about the dangers of smoking so that it can stop smoking immediately.
