Abstract
Background: Leprosy is one of the infectious diseases caused by Mycobacterium leprae. Factors affecting the incidence of leprosy include environmental factors, individual characteristics such as age, sex, economic status, occupation, personal hygiene, and contact history with leprosy patients. Buaran Subdistrict is one of the areas in Pekalongan Regency with the highest number of patients, in the year 2016 recorded as many as 28 patients. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family room ventilation, family room lighting, the availability of transportation, and the distance home to the health center with the incidence of leprosy in Buaran District Pekalongan Regency. Method: Type of quantitative analytical research with Case Control approach. The case is leprosy sufferers amounted to 25 people and control is not suffered leprosy amounted to 25 people. Data analysis using Chi Square test. Results: The results of this study indicate that 62% of the family room ventilation is not eligible, 60% of the family room lighting is not eligible, 2% of respondents are not available for transportation to the Puskesmas, 84% of the distance to the Puskesmas is 1-5km and the variables associated with the incidence of leprosy was the ventilation of the living room (p = 0.043, OR = 3,431) and the lighting of the living room (p = 0.022, OR = 4,030), while the variables unrelated to the incidence of leprosy were the availability of transportation (p = 1,000, OR = 2,042) and the distance to the Puskesmas (p = 1,000, OR = 1,000). Conclusion:There are relationship between family room ventilation and family room lighting with leprosy events and there is no relationship between the availability of transport and the distance to the Puskesmas with leprosy events.
