Abstract
Mikroorganisms that cause dandruff is the Pityrosporum ovale fungus. This fungus can cause scalp condition to peel like scales. Such conditions affect about 30-90% of humans. Methanol extract of red betel leaf and green betel can dissolve the content of alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and flafonoids, this content can function as antifungi. The pourpose of this study to see the difference inhibitory power of red betel leaf extract and green betel leaf to Pityrosporum ovale mushroom growth. The design of this study was experiments, using methanol extract of red betel leaf and betel green concentrate 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 12.5% on each disc. The results showed that the extract methanol red betel leaves at 100% concentration showed an average value of 11.38 mm, whereas in green betel at 100% concentration showed and average value of 10.26 mm. 75%, 50%, 25%, 12.5% were not inhibit the growth of Pityrosporum ovale fungus Key words : red betel leaf, green betel leaf, Pityrosporum ovale
