Abstract
Background: Leachate is the result of organic waste decomposition mixed with rainwater which will cause unpleasant odors. Leachate contains Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), and nitrite which can damage the environment around the landfill (TPA). From the observation of the physical quality of leachate from the landfill (TPA) in Ngembak Village is dark brown, smells bad and in the black waste output tub. This study aims to determine differences in the concentration of BOD and Nitrite leachate. Type of research: this study is analytical with a cross sectional approach. The object of this research is leachate in 6 leachate tanks in Ngembak landfill (TPA). Method: The sample in this study is leachate taken from each reservoir. Each body repeated 3 times, the parameters analyzed were measurements of pH, temperature, BOD and nitrite. Data analysis is using Paired t test. Results and conclusions: The average concentration of BOD Bak1 was 605.33 mg / l, Bak2 198.33 mg / l, Bak3 160.67 mg / l, Bak4 120.67 mg / l, Bak5 99.33 mg / l, and Bak6 60.00 mg / l. On average Bak1 nitrite concentration is 0.01533 mg / l, Bak2 0.02267 mg / l, Bak3 0.04433 mg / l, Bak4 0.01233 mg / l, Bak5 0.01233 mg / l, and Bak6 0.00600 mg / l. The test results obtained there were differences in BOD concentration in pairs of tub 1 and tub 2 with p = 0.033, tub 2 and 3 p = 0.681, tub 3 and 4 p = 0.450, tub 4 and 5 p = 0.458, and tubs 5 and 6 p = 0.064 value p ≥ 0.05, it can be concluded that there is no difference in body pairs. At nitrite concentration pair in tub 1 and 2 p = 0.448, tub 2 and 3 p = 0.535, tub 3 and 4 p = 0.372, tub 4 and 5 p = 1,000, and bodies 5 and 6 p = 0.424 all pairs of tubs have a value p ≥ 0.05, it was concluded that there was no significant different in nitrite concentration at each stage of leachate treatment. Keywords: Leachate, Biochenical Oxcigen Demand (BOD), Nitrite.
