Abstract

Sexually transmitted diseases cases in Semarang is still quite high. The disease may well be transmitted through commercial sex workers. This research is aimed at identifying bacteria on vaginal swab of commercial sex workers at Sunan Kuning Prostitution Semarang. This study used descriptive research with vaginal swab samples from 15 commercial sex workers who have worked more than 5 years. The bacteria was identified microscopically, macroscopically, and physiologically. The result show each respondent were found 1 to 3 species of bacteria, 13 respondents (86,67%) were found Lactobacillus sp, 8 respondents (53,33%) were found Escherechia coli, 4 respondents (26,67%) were found Staphylococcus aureus, 2 respondents (13,33%) were found Enterobacter aerogenes, 1 respondent (6,67%) were found Providensia suartii, 1 respondent (6,67%) were found Klebsiella pneumoniae, 1 respondent (6,67%) were found Staphylococcus epidermidis, 1 respondent (6,67%) were found Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
