Abstract
Urinary tract infection is an infection caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi that invade one or more parts of the urinary tract. Urinary tract infection is a clinical condition due to the proliferation of microorganisms that cause inflammation of the urinary tract and is characterized by the discovery of bacteria and leukocytes in the urine.. The purpose of this study is to describe the number of leukocytes and the number of bacteria in the urine of patients with urinary tract infections. This type of research is descriptive research. The study was conducted in the Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Semarang in August 2016 to December 2016. Samples study of urinary tract infection urine of patients who present at health centers Bojongsari. examination done by a urine culture and microscopic examination of urine. Examination of urine culture using methods pour (pour plate). Essentially is made serial dilution of 101-103. Microscopic examination is made to see the leukocytes in the urine. Results from this study show that the incidence of urinary tract infection is highest in the age group 51-60 years. Women more often suffer from urinary tract infections than men. From this research, Escherichia coli is the most common microorganisms that cause urinary tract infections. Keywords: bacteria, leukocytes, urine, urinary tract infection
