Abstract

The protein requirement, sourced eggs are very high that triggers chicken farmers to increase production. Giving antibiotics in animal feed relied upon to maintain the health and productivity of chickens maintenance. Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic group, so widely used as a treatment in animal husbandry and proven leave residues in eggs. This study aims to determine the levels of tetracycline antibiotic residues in chicken eggs. Methods: Cross Sectional Descriptive quantitative study using 30 samples of chicken eggs which were selected by purposive sampling from 2 chicken factory. Test qualitative/semiquantitative for the presence of antibiotics using screening test, followed HPLC/KCKT to determine levels of antibiotic residues. Result were analyzed descriptively in the form of tables, figures, charts. Result: A total of 3.3% positive chicken egg contains residues of tetracyclines, the inhibition zone is formed by 27 mm, by 3.3% more samples formed inhibition zone but below the quality standard tetracycline residue levels of 10 ppm. Based on 30 samples of chicken eggs, there are 2 samples of 6.6% is formed zone of inhibition. However, only one sample (3.3%), which proved to be qualitatively containing the antibiotic tetracycline. Results obtained HPLC content of 0,2 ppm, well above the safe standard MRL (Maximum Residue Limit) egg is 0,05 mg/Kg. Conclusion: 93.4% in Jepara chicken eggs safe to eat despite containing tetracycline 3.3% above the MRL.
