Abstract

Crossmatch is the main examination which is done before transfusion to see the donor blood match with the recipient. Crossmatch examination use the automatic and semi automatic method. Semi-automatic method takes longer time than automatic method, the risk of error which is done by examiner (human error) is bigger than automatic method. Automatic methods can reduce the risk of error, improve safety and blood safety to be transfused to the patient, improve the standardization and result quality. The research goal is to know the difference of crossmatch examination result between semi automatic and automatic method. The Research type is analytical with cross-sectional design. Sample was 46 samples from the BDRS population on May 2015 - June 2015. Statistical test use the Wilcoxon test. Major crossmatch result of the semi automatic method 46 samples (100%) all negative, minor crossmatch negative result 40 samples (87,0%), positive result 6 sample (13%). Major crossmatch result of the automatic method are all (100%) negative, minor crossmatch negative result 33 samples (71.70%), and positive 13 sample (28.3%). There was no significant difference on the major crossmatch results, and there was a significant difference on the minor crossmatch method results between semi automatic and automatic method. Keywords: crossmatch, semiautomatic method, automatic
