Abstract

Cholesterol is a wax substance which is white, is naturally found in the body. Energy – rich substance that serves as a source of energy for the body’s metabolic processes. Samples for cholesterol tests were serum and plasma, The content in plasma and high serotinin, the use of EDTA anticoagulans in teh venous plasma will result in an osmotic effect resulting in hemodilution and resulted in a decrease in lipid levels artificially. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in the result of cholesterol degree using serum sample and EDTA plasma at the temperature room. This type of research is analytic. Samples taken in random as munch as 16 patients in the main Clinic Amanda Purwokerto. Cholesterol levels obtained with CHOD-PAP method. Differences in cholesterol levels in serum and plasma tested by Paired Sample t-Test. Inspection results show an average examination using a sample of serum cholesterol levels 163 mg/dl, while the everage cholesterol level checks using EDTA plasma samples of 150 mg/dl, but both are still within the limits of the normal value. Statistical tests Paired Sample t-Test demonstrated the value of significance 0,00 with 0,05 significance levels i.e. 0,00 ≤ 0,05 so it can be concluded that there is a difference between the results of the examination of cholesterol levels using a sample of the serum and EDTA plasma. Key words : serum and EDTA plasma samples, cholesterol levels
