Abstract

Hypertension is a condition in wich the blood vessels have persistently raised pressure, where the systolic pressure is more than 140 mmHg and the diastolic pressure is more than 90 mmHg. This is a chronic disease that needs to be treated appropriately. One of the risk factors that increase morbidity and mortality rate is nonadherence with antihypertensive drugs. Whereas the determinant of the success of therapy is the adherence to take antihypertensive drugs. This study aims to find out the adherence of hypertensive elderly take an antihypertensive drug in posbindu Sumber Sehat Kangkung village, Mranggen. The research design is descriptive using cross sectional approach and this research were using 63 respondents. The result of the measurement by using MMAS (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale) questionnaire obtained the percentages of compliance level that are 63,5% have low compliance, 22,2% have medium compliance, and 14,3% have high adherence.
