Abstract

Hypertension is blood pressure that exceeds normal where systolic pressure is more than 140 mmHg and diastolic is more than 90 mmHg. The elderly experience a decrease in various body systems, including an impact on blood pressure. In addition to pharmacological therapy, the management of hypertension can use complementary therapy, namely the therapy of warm water foot baths. This case study aims to determine the effect of foot bath therapy with warm water on the reduction of blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension. The design of this case study is descriptive study respondent as many as 2 elderly, with female sex aged 61-65 years conducted in the Tandang village area, Tembalang sub-district, Semarang. Clients were treated to warm water foot baths with a temperature of 38-40˚ C. Before therapy for warm water foot soak both clients' blood pressure 150/100 mmHg and based on the application it was concluded that there was a decrease in blood pressure in the client after therapy for warm foot bath.
