Abstract

Applying infusion is an invasive measurement that trigger pain in children, especially toddler. One of the non-pharmacologist’s techniques is able to be carried out by nurses to eliminate pain by letting children to watch animation film as pain distractor.This case study aims at identifying effectiveness of animation cartoon film to minimize pain while applying infusion takes place. This study employs descriptive study using 2 toddler boys (3-6 years old) in RS. Roemani Semarang as the respondents. Pain occurs in applying infusion are being measured by using FLACC (Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability) scale by the total score of 3 (mild pain). It is concluded that watching animation film is significantly effective in minimizing toddler’s pain when applying infusion occurs.
