Abstract

Background: In a study conducted at Roemani Hospital Semarang, there were primigravida patients in labor during the first active phase. The mother stated that she could not stand the pain that was felt especially in the abdomen, waist, and spread to the back, so that the mother continued to feel pain during the first stage of labor. The purpose of this case study was to determine the effect of massage effleurage on reducing the level of labor pain at the active phase in primigravida in the Roemani VK room in Semarang. Method: This case study is a Descriptive Study, which is to describe case management in applying evidence based nursing pratice with the nursing process. Respondents in this case study were primigravid mothers who gave birth normally at Roemani Hospital Semarang. The technique of conducting a case study using interviews then effleurage massage intervention. Respondents used by 2 people. The instrument used was the NRS observation sheet. Results: The results of pain level in the first respondent before effleurage massage was obtained on average 8.2, after doing the average pain became 6.2, whereas in the second respondent before massage effleurage obtained an average pain of 8.4, after an average pain to 5.4. Conclusion: There was an effect of effleurage massage on the level of labor pain at the active phase of primigravida in the Vemani Hospital of Roemani Hospital Semarang.
