Abstract

ABSTRACT Ovtaviana, Reni. 2022. Analisis Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Materi Kalkulus ditinjau dari Gaya Belajar Visual, Auditori, Reading dan Kinestetik (VARK) pada Mahasiswa. Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang. Pembimbing: I. Martyana Prihaswati, M.Pd., II. Iswahyudi Joko Suprayitno, M.Pd. Kata kunci : Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis, Gaya Belajar VARK Proses pembelajaran matematika di kelas dibutuhkan komunikasi yang baik antara dosen dan mahasiswa. Namun, berdasarkan hasil wawancara Mahasiswa Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang menunjukan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis mahasiswa masih rendah khususnya pada mata kuliah kalkulus. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah mahasiswa belum mengoptimalkan gaya belajar yang dimilikinya. Sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui cara mahasiswa mengoptimalkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis ditinjau dari gaya belajar Visual, Auditori, Reading dan Kinestetik (VARK). Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 25 mahasiswa semester dua Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Muhammadiyah yang dipilih dengan purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes, angket dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan Miles dan Huberman yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan menarik kesimpulan. Selain mendengarkan penjelasan dosen, hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa gaya belajar Visual belajar dengan cara mencari refrensi lain yaitu dari youtube dan google, gaya belajar Auditori belajar dengan memperhatikan dosen dan aktif bertanya, gaya Belajar Reading belajar dengan mencatat materi dibuku catatan menggunakan bahasa sendiri, gaya Belajar Kinestetik belajar dengan sering mengerjakan latihan soal, gaya belajar Visual/Auditori belajar dengan bantuan aplikasi youtube, gaya Belajar Auditori/Reading belajar dengan mendengarkan dosen lalu mencatat materi dibuku catatan. Dalam proses pembelajaran dikelas dosen hendaknya memperhatikan gaya belajar mahasiswa kemudian menyesuaikan cara penyampaian materi, sehingga mahasiswa dapat belajar sesuai dengan cara belajar yang dimilikinya dalam satu waktu secara maksimal. However, based on the results of interviews with University of Muhammadiyah Semarang students, it shows that students' mathematical communication skills are still low, especially in calculus courses. One of the contributing factors is that students have not optimized their learning styles. So this study aims to find out how students optimize mathematical communication skills in terms of Visual, Auditory, Reading and Kinesthetic (VARK) learning styles. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were 25 second semester students of Mathematics Education, University of Muhammadiyah which were selected by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques using tests, questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis using Miles and Huberman is data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. In addition to listening to the lecturer's explanation, the results of the study show that the Visual learning style learns by looking for other references, namely from YouTube and Google, the Auditory learning style learns by paying attention to the lecturer and actively asking questions, the Reading Learning style learns by recording material in a notebook using their own language, Learning style Kinesthetic learning by frequently doing practice questions, learning styles Visual/Auditor learning with the help of the youtube application, learning styles Auditory/Reading learning by listening to lecturers and then taking notes in a notebook. In the learning process in the classroom, the lecturer should pay attention to the student's learning style and then adjust the method of delivery of the material, so that students can learn according to the way they learn at one time maximally.
