Abstract

Chronis Kidney Disease (CKD) patients who is going through a period of hemodialysis should keep limitation solvent diet between dialysis session for preventing overhidration. The consequence of limitation solvent diet was on patients will get thirsty. Thirst can be decreased, one of it was by gurgling with mouthwash. This observation intended to know the description of duration to withstand thirst after gurgling with mouthwash in patients who is going through a period of hemodialysis in RS Muhammadiyah Semarang. This research design used quasy experiment with post test only design. This research was conducted on March 16th – Mei 2nd 2017. Sampling technique used purposive sampling with total sample 16 respondents. The result of this research is on average of duration to withstand thirst after gurgling with mouthwash is 69,71 minutes. Recommendation from this observation of gurgling with mouthwash could be used to manage thirst in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) that undergoing hemodialysis.
