Abstract

Electrolyte examination is a very important type of chemical examination, not only for diagnostic purposes and for disease travel. In this case the selection of anticoagulants should be considered in the order of the ideal examination specimens. Examination of sodium, potasium, choride, using serum levels is greater than using heparin plasma, because at the proses be released potassium from red blood cells. The objective of the study to determine the examination result difference of sodium, potassium, chloride using serum and plasma heparin. The sample of this research is patient who perform electrolyte examination in Arthritis Pathology Clinic Laboratory of RSUD Arjawinangun Cirebon. The treatment in this experiment was anticoagulation in the 2nd blood specimen, using serum and plasma heparin. In this study using ISE (ion selective electrode) method. In specimens serum sodium, potassium, chloride levels are higher because at the time of the formation process will be released potassium from red blood cells, whereas in plasma heparin will be smaller levels because it can occur dilution at the time of addition of heparin. The results found that serum sodium and potassium levels differed significantly with plasma sodium and potassium levels, while serum chloride levels did not differ significanly with plasma chloride levels Keywords: Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Serum, Heparin Plasma
