Abstract

Background: Diabetics mellitus(DM) are at risk for complications if they are not treated properly, one of the most common complications is a leg injury that eventually becomes an ulcus diabeticum. DM complications include retinopathy, nephropathy, autonomic neuropathy and peripheral neuropathy with risk of foot ulcers and amputations. Some DM patients are usually go to the doctor, if the condition of the foot has worsened. Patients need to realize that taking care of the feet should be a daily habit. Prevention of the absence of amputation is actually very simple, but often overlooked One prevention for diabetic ulcer wounds is to pay attention to foot care on a regular basis. Regular foot care is considered effective in preventing DM ulcers because it can be there self. Objectives: To find out the analyze the relationship between knowledge and behavior and attitude with behavior foot care of DM patient. Research Methodology: This research type was quantitative research which descriptive correlational research that is research or study of relationship between two variables in a situation or a group of subject, to see correlation between symptom one with other symptom, The sample in this research is 34 DM patient treated at RSI Kendal. Result: Result of research known that r= 0.948(ρvalue ≤ 0.05). this shows that there is significant relation between knowledge with behavior of foot care patien DM at RSI Kendal. The result of the research shows that r= 0.506 (ρ value ≤ 0,05), it shows that there is relation of attitude with behavior foot care patien DM at RSI Kendal . Suggestion: RSI Kendal expected to maintain health service level for patient DM and Nurse can provide motivation to the family to improve foot care DM patients in the family by involving DM patients follow the foot care education activities in preventing the occurrence of ulcers.
