Abstract

Gas station attendant is a worker who gets the lead chemical exposure which is from the gasoline and vehicle exhaust. Continuous lead exposure will cause the cell membrane damage as well as the erythrocytes life is shorten, those will affect not only reducing the number of erythrocytes but also the volume. The decline in the amount of eriythrocytes can trigger the rise oferythrocytes sedimentation rate values. The purpose of research is to know theerythrocytes sedimentation rate description on gas station attendant through the worker’s working life and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) observation. This research is descriptive research. The research is done by survey method and laboratory examination with 20 specimens obtained from the Gayamsari gas station attendant in total population. Based on erythrocytes sedimentation rate values’ examination on 20 workers of Gayamsari’s gas station, there are 7 workers (35%) with normal erythrocytes sedimentation rateand 13 workers (65%) erythrocytes sedimentation rateabove the reference range. Keywords: Gas Station Attendant, Erythrocytes, ESR
