Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases dominate as causes of death in the world and deaths from road accidents in adolescents aged 15-29 years. Basic life support (BLS) is the main things that able to apply by people or bystanders in order to give the first help immediately before well trained helper came. Teacher is one of bystanders as proffesional lecturers which has main duty to teach, to coach, to lead, to train and to evaluate the students from formal school dan elementary school in term of continuing the values of BLS. This study was aimed to describe the level of knowledge at elementary school teachers who had received training in basic life support in Public Health Center (PHC) of Petarukan region. This study was conducted in February 2017 in Petarukan PHC with a total sample of 54 respondents. Research revealed that the knowledge level of the elementary school teacher is less. It was equal to 46.3% or 25 respondents. Recommendations from this study that this training should be continued in order to gain the knowledge of bystanders in PHC of Petarukan region, furthermore people are not only knowing but willing and able to perform basic life support to those in necessary.
