Abstract

Cancer is a disease caused by the breakdown of basic regulatory mechanisms in cell behavior, in particular the mechanism of cell growth and differentiation. One therapy to treat cancer is chemotherapy. The side effects of chemotherapy is psychologically anxiety. One of the non-pharmacological management can be done to reduce the anxiety is hydrotherapy soak your feet in warm water. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of hydrotherapy foot bath of warm water to decrease anxiety levels of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in RSI Sultan Agung Semarang. This research method is pre-experimental and approach one group pretest-posttest design, conducted in January-February 2017 in RSI Sultan Agung Semarang with a total sample of 16 respondents were selected using purposive sampling method. Statistical test results using Wilcoxon test showed no effect of hydrotherapy foot bath of warm water to decrease anxiety levels of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy (p value = 0.000). The study recommends about non pharmacological management of anxiety for the nurse or the patient's family. Keyword : soaking foot on warm water, anxiety, chemotherapy
