Abstract
Hypertension is an increase in blood pressure repeatedly ≥ 140/90 mmHg. Uncontrolled hypertension will lead to various health problems such as kidney failure, heart failure, and stroke. Hypertension is caused by several factors: alcohol consumption, smoking, and obesity. Obesity greatly affects hypertension. One of the obesity parameters is BMI. BMI (Body Mass Index) is a parameter in monitoring adult nutritional status associated with excess or underweight. Overweight causes various health problems. In order not to cause various complications, preventive and curative actions are needed, that is PROLANIS. Activities on PROLANIS are medical consultations covering examination and treatment, group education which includes gymnastics and counseling, reminder by sms gateway, and home visit. This study aimed to determine the effect of PROLANIS on BMI in hypertensive patients in Banjardawa public health center with a quasi experiment design one group pretest posttest design. This research was conducted on January to March 2017 in Banjardawa Public Health Center Taman Subdistrct Pemalang Regency on 104 samples. The results of BMI before PROLANIS are 0% underweight, 34.6% normal, 51.9% overweight, 12.5% obesity and 1% over-obesity. The results of BMI after PROLANIS are 0% underweight, 99% normal, 1% overweight, 0% obesity and 0% over-obesity. Wilcoxon Test’s result obtained p value equal to 0.000, so it is concluded that there is influence of PROLANIS to BMI to patients of hypertension in Banjardawa Public Health Center. The recommendation from this research is the BMI of hypertension patients have to be kept controlled and the patients have to routinely follow PROLANIS activities.
