Abstract
Keywords: Edmodo, Schoology, Speaking This research was a study which attempted to explain the effectiveness use of Edmodo and Schoology in teaching speaking, and explain the students’ perception on the application practicality in learning process. This study used experimental study. The subject of the study was eleventh grade of MAN N 2 Semarang. There were two groups in this study, (E) experiment class at XI IPA 3 and (C) control class at XI IPA 5. I used simple random sampling in try out class at XI IPA. The research instruments were test (pre and post-test), questionnaire, and audio documentation. The t-test or value obtained (0.353), t result was lower than t table (1.66724). So the hypothesis is rejected. It means that both application Edmodo and Schoology were had equal effect to improve speaking performance. It proved by the mean value of pre- test and post-test, the pre to post-test result of experiment class was 66.71 to 69.71 and the pre to post result of control class was 66.53 to 68.57 Meanwhile, the result of questionnaire was 3.40 students perception on good criteria about the practicality in experiment class. Then, there were 3.42 students perception on good criteria about the practicality in control class. It means that the teacher can use either Edmodo or Schoology application in teaching speaking to achieve students’ speaking performance particularly on pronunciation and grammar.
